Follow Friday (4)

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read. A great way to meet fellow bloggers and get new followers!

What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots?

I would say my biggest pet peeve would be redundant plots and characters- average girl meets hot out of her league boy who fall madly in love for each other but not without a few mishaps along the way... but don't worry, things will work out by the end of the book... or in the sequel.

At least that's how I feel about a lot of plots and ironically I will find myself still reading (and enjoying) these books! LOL! I know it's hard to be completely original, but I suppose that's why I lean away from contemporary fiction and go for fantasy fiction where the story can go anywhere and the redundant plot/characters are somewhat pushed aside.

...Hm so not really a pet peeve afterall, but it's hard for me to really hate something that creatively came from a literary mind.

Ugh, the redundancy, yes I know what you mean... That's why it's always so exciting to find original plots and characters! :)

Hopping through. I don't mind overdone plot frameworks like average girl and out of her league guy, but the author has to climb higher to impress me. You can do a hackneyed tale justice, but you have to come up with some really original twist.

It may sound weird, but I actually seem to really like books that are as generic as that! I think it gives me a sense of security to know exactly what's going to happen ;)

Following you back :)

Stock characters are annoying. I really wish someone would come up with an interesting and unique character. Your blog is so lovely! New follower :)

I am tired of the whole shy girl meets hot boy but I still read them every now and then. Sometimes it can have a unique spin. I do love the paranormal stories because they can have really unique twists on it.

Hello! New follower! Yes, I have to agree. It is disappointing when the female lead is completely forgettable. That's how I felt about Shiver. Love Sam. Grace? Wait, who is Grace again? =) haha. But in the end, I still enjoyed the creativity of the story. It's a tough one.

Redundant plots definitely make a book less fun to read and doesn't exactly set the author apart from the pack.

I'm a fan of Contemp Fiction and had to admit that some of them still tend to stick to that plotline but the thing I hate the most is a weak character because they really make the story. So if the story is weak but the characters are awesome then I don't mind (much) the cliched story lines.

Thanks 4 visiting my blog! (:

I completely agree. I hate redundant plots, too! I know what you mean when you like them anyway, since it's so hard to think up of new ideas in the world of literature! Thanks for following me, I'm following you back!
